MEDIA CONCLAVE

'Barak Festival’ is a signature event of the KRC Foundation. It will be organised at Silchar from 10-12 January every year. This year the theme of the Festival is NE India Adventure Sports, Art & Culture Promotion’

Media Conclave with five distinct activities namely Media Awards, Workshop, Welfare Fund, Talks and Contest are part of the ‘Barak Festival 2025’. This is organised under the aegis of the KRC Foundation Media Welfare Group (MWG).

The objective is to create camaraderie among the media community as a whole and to offer a fellow feeling at a time of need. To be a catalyst in the growth of the media movement and to unite media communities. This will help to create a media ecosystem for sustainable development

Various Media awards are constituted and shall be given on 12th January 2025

KRC Media Welfare Fund

KRC Media Welfare Fund will be utilised for the welfare activity of media personnel in need. KRC Foundation Media Welfare Group (MWG) is conceptualised with the idea of camaraderie towards the media community as a whole and to offer fellow feelings in times of need through the Foundation’s means and reach.

In the Barak Festival 2025 a part of the sponsorship, direct donations and supports etc. shall be invested in the MWG Fund for future contingencies in a floating fixed deposit scheme.

KRC Media Workshop

KRC Media Workshop - skilling-up activities shall be conducted by professionals to upgrade the skills of journalists, media students or anyone aspiring to join the media fraternity. This is a paid program which is being subsidised and made affordable. The proceeds of the program will be added to the welfare fund.

In Barak Festival 2025, student nominations are invited for a day-long ‘Workshop’ to be conducted by academicians and industry experts.

Barak Festival Media Talk

‘Barak Festival 2025 Media Talk’ is an initiative to sensitise people about the role of media, its responsibilities and the impact it creates.

A campaign between December 2024 and January 2025 in online and offline mode will be organised in ‘Barak Valley’ where students, parents, teachers, clubs/NGOs, organisations, political parties and any other stakeholders will participate in healthy and open discussions.

The same will be broadcast through KRC TIMES, the official broadcaster of the Barak Festival 2025.

Barak Festival 2025 Media Contest (Media School Students)

Best Feature (1000 words)

Best Podcast (3 minutes)

Best Video Report (3 minutes)

Nominations from the students of media institutions are invited to submit features, podcasts and video reports on any topic.

The best articles, podcasts and video reports will be showcased in the Media Conclave and a certificate of recognition and memento will be presented.

The winners can also participate in the Media Conclave (at their own cost), Day-long Workshop and other events in the Barak Festival.

The winners will be offered an internship with KRC TIMES for three months (on mutual discussions)

Each participant will get a digital certificate of participation. The submitted articles, podcasts and video reports will be published (subject to editorial approval) on the KRC TIMES Portal and YouTube channel. The same shall be shared on the social media handles of the KRC Foundation.

Barak Festival 2025 Media Contest (Students | Youths | Senior Citizens)

Video (3 minutes)

Any content on Entertainment, Story Telling, Mimicry, Jokes, Travel, Dance & Songs

It can be solo or in a group of two or more

Language: Hindi, Bengali, Assamese and English

Nominations from the students (13+) and youths (25+) and Senior Citizens are invited to submit a 3 minutes Video on any topic.

The best video reports will be showcased in the Media Conclave and a certificate of recognition and memento will be presented.

The winners can also participate in the Media Conclave (at their own cost), Day-long Workshop and other events in the Barak Festival.
